Several people have asked where I buy Klaatu merchandise since everything but the latest CD releases is no longer being made.

The best place to buy the latest CD releases was right on the Bullseye Records home page. But Bullseye is currently taking a breather and the band's albums have reverted back to them. They are in the process of setting up operations to sell them directly on the web, but for now you should hold off so that you don't accidentally get one of the other labels' inferior releases (and believe me, they ARE DEFINITELTY inferior releases).

I have several places that I watch for Klaatu related items. The biggest of these places is ebay.  However, finding things on e-bay isn't always easy.  Klaatu brings up all sorts of things from DVDs and VHS copies of The Day The Earth Stood Still, to Star Wars collectible action figures, and even some really off the wall stuff.

So, here are links that incorporate all the filters I currently use on e-bay to search for Klaatu related things.

  1. My main Klaatu search where I find most of the things that are of interest to me.
  2. Here's the first of two searches of the German e-bay site that I use to find copies of the band's 1988 reunion single, "Woman".
  3. Here's the second of two searches of the German e-bay site that I use to find copies of the band's 1988 reunion single, "Woman".  Please note, while they may be very similar, the two different searches do sometimes come up with different items.
GEMM.COM is another great music site.
  1. Here's a search for Klaatu 45s that are listed on GEMM.  I've found several rare items there, and sometimes find Klaatu's "Woman" single there too. Be forewarned. I have had a negative experience with a vendor from Australia called Timber Rain Records.  Items paid for have not been shipped and refunds not given.  It's at the point where e-mail to this vendor isn't responded to either. Also note that they have some of the highest prices on GEMM, very disproportionate to other sellers. (For example, two copies of Woman [7" single] are listed when I'm writing this. Timber Rain wants $45 while another vendor wants $11.04.   Steer clear of Timber Rain Records!
  2. Here's a search for Klaatu 12" records on GEMM.  I've found copies of the LPs as well as 12" singles (such as the rare Juicy Luicy disco remix) and even copies of the "Woman" 12" single (which has a 3rd version of the song that the 7" single doesn't have).
  3. Here's a search specifically for Klaatu's "Woman" single in the CD single format on GEMM.

Another good, but often expensive site to check for LPs is California Albums.
  1. Here's a site where you can usually find Klaatu vinyl, including sometimes sealed copies.  It's California Albums.
  2. Here's a second page on California Albums where you can usually find Klaatu vinyl.
  3. And sometimes you'll even find Klaatu test pressings on this California Albums page.

You may also find some good listings for Klaatu at http://www.musicstack.com/  I can't seem to find a way to link directly to Klaatu listings, but just enter Klaatu in the search box and click "GO" and you'll see plenty listed.  BEWARE of Timber Rain Records from Australia again.  They have a few items listed here, including the one that I paid for and didn't receive!

On the song "California Jam", Laurie Hood sings a section in the middle of the song.  Laurie was a member of the band "Sugar Shoppe" who had several singles and an album (plus a second album under the name "Shoppe").  You can sometimes find the Sugar Shoppe releases at these links:

  1. E-bay search for Sugar Shoppe records.
  2. E-bay search for the "Shoppe" record, "Dusting Off Mythology".

Note, for these next two searches on GEMM, for some reason you'll usually find grossly over-priced listings. I'm not sure why....
  1. GEMM search for Sugar Shoppe records.
  2. GEMM search for "Dusting Off Mythology".
You may also find some good listings for Sugar Shoppe at http://www.musicstack.com/  I can't seem to find a way to link directly to Sugar Shoppe listings, but just enter Sugar Shoppe in the search box and click "GO" and you'll see plenty listed.  BEWARE of Timber Rain Records from Australia again.  They may have items listed here but are to be avoided at all costs!

Hopefully some of this will be helpful to you.  And if you stumble across a copy of Magentalane on 8-track, PLEASE let me know ASAP! :-)
