This track was coupled with
"Doctor Marvello" for Klaatu's second (Canadian) single release, but
has not appeared on any Klaatu album to date.
"For You Girl" was not the first of Dee's songs to be considered for
the second single release. Initially producer Terry Brown had chosen
"Cherie" (a.k.a. "Sherry") and a recording of this song was made in
August 1973 but subsequently shelved. (A different version of "Cherie"
would appear on the "Sir Army Suit" album in 1978.)
This was followed in December 1973 by a failed first attempt at
recording "Little Neutrino" which was aborted after only one recording
session.
Then Dee came up with "For You Girl". A demo recording of his new song
was quickly made at Toronto Sound Studios on January 18, 1974 and
shortly thereafter production began on this master recording.
This single was released on the now defunct GRT Records of Canada.
