Remarks:

Recording of this track
commenced in September 1976. The basic track consisted of a single
grand piano which was played to a pre-recorded click track. The drums,
bass, and electric guitar were then overdubbed to complete the basic
rhythm section.
On January 12, 1977 at Olympic Sound Studios in southwest London, an
80-piece orchestra made up of musicians from the National Philharmonic
was recorded "live" as they performed the arrangement written by Doug
Riley, who also conducted.
Back at Toronto Sound Studios, adjustments had to be made to the
orchestral tracks to correct some problems with matching their pitch
and lack of "tightness" to the original rhythm tracks. This adjusted
version was then bounced "wild" back onto the master 24-track tape in
sync with a previously recorded click track.
The "caliope-like" sounds heard on this track were produced using a
Moog Polymoog synthesizer, which was the very first fully "polyphonic"
synthesizer to become available at that time. Prior to April 1977 all
synthesizer parts on Klaatu's recordings had been performed on a Moog
Sonic V.
