Remarks:

This was the first master
recording made for the "Magentalane" album. In early March 1981, work
commenced on the basic rhythm section which consisted of a "Gibson"
acoustic guitar accompanied by a drum simulator (used as a "click"
reference track).
The slide guitar solo featured midway through this track was performed
by Dee Long on a Fender Stratocaster guitar.
All other electric guitar parts were performed on a Gretsch "Country
Gentleman" guitar patched via a "direct" box into the studio console,
with selected parts being routed through a Leslie speaker rotating at
varying speeds during the recording process.
The bass guitar used on this track was a Hofner violin bass (using
front pickup only).
The percussion includes maraccas, claves, bongos, triangle, sandpaper,
guero, and a tabla drum all of which were recorded separately and then
combined onto two tracks.
The "Orcana" reed organ which appears briefly near the end of the song
had previously been featured in the 1978 recording of "Dear Christine". |
