Remarks:

The bed tracks for this song
were recorded on June 17, 1981 and consisted of two separate takes of
acoustic guitar (Gibson "Gospel") performed in sync with a pre-recorded
"click" track which had been produced using an electronic drum
simulator.
This was the last track to be recorded for Klaatu's fifth and final
studio album. The song "Magentalane" is actually a composite of two
unfinished works augmented with some additional material written in the
spring of 1981. Much of the music in the main body of the song was
borrowed from a demo recording made in March 1980 under the working
title, "I Love". The short tag piece that closes the "Magentalane"
album was culled from an earlier unfinished song entitled, "The Land of
Kinkajous, Butterflies and Mushrooms". The existing lyrics were
replaced with a fanciful narrative told in a conversational style
depicting Klaatu's arrival back "home" (to their musical roots).
One final word about the "Magentalane" album: When the deadline arrived
for Capitol Records (USA) to pick up Klaatu's 5th option, they declined
to do so. The production of the "Magentalane" album was only made
possible through the faith and efforts of Deane Cameron, then A&R
Director at Capitol Records of Canada. Thank you, Deane! (P.S.
Deane went on to become President of Capitol's Canadian subsiduary.)
